What it usually is

The engine computer saw a fault and saved a code. The common ones are a loose gas cap, an oxygen sensor, a small EVAP leak or a light misfire.

Questions We Hear at the Counter

Do I get a price before you start?

Yes. California law says you get a written estimate before any work, and we follow it to the letter. If we find something new once the car is apart, we stop, send you photos and wait for your OK.

How much is a check engine light diagnosis?

$129. That covers the scan plus the testing to find the real cause, not just the code. A code tells us where to look. It does not tell us which part failed.

Can I wait while you work on my car?

For oil changes, batteries, tire checks and most brake jobs, yes. Book a morning slot and plan on 45 minutes to 2 hours. We have coffee, Wi Fi and a cold room in July.

What does a pre purchase inspection cover?

We put the car on a lift and check the frame, leaks, brakes, tires, suspension and exhaust. We scan every module for stored codes and take it on a test drive. You get a photo report you can take back to the seller. It takes about 90 minutes and costs $175.

Will using your shop void my new car warranty?

No. Federal law lets you have maintenance done at any shop. We use parts that meet the maker's specs and log every service so you have the records.
