- Most likely a transponder key. The chip talks to the car so it will start.

- A remote head key, or a flip key if the blade folds away.

Questions About Car Keys
Can you make a key if I lost every key to the car?
Yes, for most cars. We cut the key from the VIN key code or by reading the door lock, then program it to the car. We also erase the lost keys from the car's memory so they no longer start it.
Is a locksmith cheaper than the dealer?
Most of the time, yes. The dealer also needs the car at their shop, which means a tow when every key is lost. We come to the car.
Are there cars you can't program?
A few. Some newer models need a dealer only online code to add a key. We check your VIN on the phone before we drive out, so you never pay a trip fee for nothing.
I lost the key to a rental car. Can you help?
Call the rental company first. Most want their own roadside service to handle it. If they say a local locksmith is fine, we can come out with their OK.
Where do I find my VIN?
Look through the windshield at the bottom corner on the driver side. It is also on the sticker in the driver door jamb, and on your registration and insurance card.
