Poured Right the First Time on the South Plains

Driveways, patios, sidewalks and shop slabs in Lubbock. Packed base, rebar and joints cut where they belong.

How Much Concrete, and What Will It Cost?

Pick the job, type the size, pick a finish. You see the yards we would order, a price range and how long before you can drive on it.

What are we pouring?
Finish
We wash the top layer off so the small river rock shows. Good grip and it hides dirt.
Colored is tint mixed in with a smooth or broom top. Stamped adds a stone or slate pattern pressed in while it is wet.

Same Driveway, Two Weeks Apart

Old heaved and cracked driveway in Slaton before tear out New broom finish driveway at the same house in Slaton BeforeAfter

Slaton, 44 by 18 Feet

The old slab sat on sand with no rebar. Tree roots lifted it 3 inches. We tore it out, packed a new base, set rebar on chairs and poured 5 inches with a broom finish.

11.5 yards, two days of work, drove on it the next Saturday.

How Long Before You Can Use It

Concrete keeps getting stronger for weeks. Here is what you can do and when.

Day 1 or 2Walk on it. Keep pets and bikes off the first night.
Day 3Patio chairs and a light grill.
Day 7Park your car or pickup.
Day 28Trailers, RVs and loaded trucks.
Day 30 and onSeal a stamped or colored slab.

Summer pours start at first light. The wind out here can dry the top in minutes, so we spray an evaporation retarder as we finish.

Winter pours need 40 degrees and rising. Below that we lay curing blankets and come back to pull them.

They were pouring at 6 in the morning in July. Not one pop out or crack a year later.

Cody R. Wolfforth

Our stamped patio looks like real slate. They showed us how to reseal it and when.

Angela M. Ransom Canyon

The yard count on the quote matched the ticket from the plant. That told me all I needed to know.

Before You Pour

The questions we answer on almost every estimate.

How soon can I drive on a new driveway?

Walk on it after a day or two. Drive a car on it after seven days. Keep trailers, RVs and heavy trucks off for 28 days, when the concrete is close to full strength.

Will my concrete crack?

All concrete cracks some. We cut control joints so it cracks in a straight line inside the joint, not across the middle of your slab. Rebar and a packed base keep the pieces from moving.

How do you pour in Lubbock wind and heat?

In summer we start at first light and use an evaporation retarder so the wind doesn't dry the top too fast. Under 40 degrees we cover the slab with blankets.

Does stamped concrete need upkeep?

Yes, a little. Plan to reseal it every two to three years. The sealer keeps the color rich and keeps water and freeze damage out.

Do you tear out the old concrete?

Yes. We break it up, haul it off to be recycled and grade the base before we form the new pour. Tear out is priced by the square foot.
