Probate is the court process that proves a will and hands out what is in it. In Pinellas County it often takes six months to a year, and the file is public.

Who Sits at Our Table

A young couple with a baby going over a simple plan with their lawyer

New parents

The first plan is usually about one thing, who raises the kids if something happens. We start there and keep it simple.

A lawyer laughing with a retired man at his kitchen table, a screened pool behind them

Retirees

We come to your kitchen table in Clearwater, Dunedin or Largo when the office is a long drive.

A lawyer talking with two boat shop owners in an open repair bay

Business owners

A plan for who runs the shop, who owns it, and how the family gets paid.

What Signing Day Looks Like

  1. Drafts come to you firstYou read them at home, mark anything that feels off, and we fix it before you sign.
  2. About an hour at our tableFlorida wills and powers of attorney need two witnesses and a notary. We provide both.
  3. You leave with the originalsIn one binder, with a plain list of who to tell and where the copies are.
  4. We help fund the trustA trust only works if your home and accounts are moved into it. We prepare the deed and walk you through the rest.

Plain Answers

Still unsure? Call and ask. The first meeting is free and there is nothing to sign that day.

Do I need a trust, or is a will enough?

Many people only need a will. A trust makes sense when you want to skip probate, own property in another state, own a business, or have a blended family. The checklist above shows which fits you.

How much does an estate plan cost?

We charge flat fees, set in writing before we start. A simple will package costs much less than a trust package. You never pay by the hour for questions.

What is a health care surrogate?

It is the Florida form that names who makes medical choices for you if you cannot speak for yourself. We usually pair it with a living will.

How often should I update my plan?

Look at it every three to five years, and any time you marry, divorce, have a child, move states or sell a business.

Can you come to my home?

Yes. We sign at kitchen tables across Pinellas County, and we bring the witnesses and the notary.
