        What to gather

          What not to do yet

General information about Ohio probate, not legal advice. Using this tool does not create an attorney client relationship. Dollar limits change, and we confirm the current ones for your case.

            How We Help

            Full estate administration

We file with the Hamilton County Probate Court, send the notices and keep the executor on schedule.

            Smaller estates

Ohio has a shorter process called release from administration. We check if you qualify first.

            The family home

Transfer it to heirs or sell it the right way, once the court says someone can act.

            When there is no will

Ohio law decides who inherits. We explain the order in plain words and handle the filings.

Help for executors doing it alone

A flat fee review of your forms before you file, so nothing gets sent back.

“Nobody calls us on a good day. So we slow down, explain every step, and take what we can off your plate.”

            Questions Families Ask

Do we have to go through probate?

Not always. Accounts with a named beneficiary, joint accounts and property with a transfer on death form usually pass outside probate. Anything in the person's name alone usually goes through the probate court.

How long does probate take in Ohio?

A smaller estate that qualifies for release from administration can close in a few months. A full estate usually takes six months to a year, sometimes longer if a house has to be sold.

Can I sell Mom's house right away?

Not yet. Someone has to be appointed by the probate court first. Until then, keep it locked, insured and heated, and keep the bills paid from estate money once there is an account.

Am I responsible for their debts?

Usually no. Debts are paid from the estate, not from family members' own money, unless you co-signed or shared the account.

What does it cost to hire you?

We quote in writing after the first free meeting. Many smaller estates are handled for a flat fee, and probate fees are paid from the estate, not out of your pocket.
