A Neighbor, Not a Call Center

I grew up in Cloverdale. When someone passes, I have seen what it does to a family when there is no money for the funeral. My job is to make sure yours is not scrambling that week.

Level or Graded? Here Is the Difference

Level benefit

For folks in fair health. The full amount is paid from the first day the policy starts.

It costs less each month, and it asks a few more health questions.

Graded benefit

For folks with serious health problems. Most have a two year waiting period.

If you pass from an illness in those two years, your family usually gets back what you paid plus some interest. After that, the full amount.

Where We Sit Down Together

Most visits happen at home. Some happen after church. A few happen at our little office on Pecan Row.

Questions Folks Ask at the Table

What is final expense insurance?

It is a small whole life policy, often $5,000 to $25,000, made to pay for a funeral and the last bills. The price stays the same for life, and the coverage does not run out as long as you pay.

Do I need a medical exam?

Usually not. Most plans ask a few health questions instead. Your answers decide which plans you can get and what they cost. Coverage, price and approval depend on your age, your health and the insurance company.

What is a waiting period?

Graded plans often have a two year waiting period. If you pass away from an illness in those two years, the family usually gets back what you paid plus some interest instead of the full amount. Accidents are often covered in full from day one. Always check the policy.

Can my daughter be the one who handles it?

Yes. You can name her as the beneficiary, and she can sit in when we meet. Many families like having a grown child at the table so everyone hears the same thing.

Will you pressure me to sign that day?

No. Walter leaves the numbers with you and you call when you are ready. Some folks sign that day. Some call back a month later. Both are fine.

Pick a Day for Coffee

Walter answers his own phone from 8 in the morning to 7 at night, Monday to Saturday. Leave your first name and number and he calls you back the same day.
