A Person Picks Up

Call any hour. At night the phone goes to our on call coordinator, not a machine.

The first home visit is free. We sit at the kitchen table and listen.

Company

Old photos, card games, a walk to the corner. The quiet hours matter too.

Overnight Stays

An awake caregiver through the night for bathroom trips and falls, so the family can sleep.

Who Pays for What

The question every family asks first. Here is the short, honest answer.

Medicare Home Health

  • A nurse or therapist, not an aide alone
  • Needs a doctor's order
  • The person must be mostly homebound
  • Short visits, for a set time

Medicare usually pays in full when these fit. We work beside home health agencies all the time.

Private Pay Home Care

  • Bathing, meals, rides and company
  • No doctor's order needed
  • As many hours as you want
  • Same caregiver, week after week

This is what we do. Medicare usually does not pay for it when it is the only help needed.

Other ways families pay for home care include long term care insurance, VA Aid and Attendance and the Pennsylvania Medicaid waiver. We help with the paperwork at no charge.

Who Comes to the Door

Local people, trained by us, who stay. You meet them before the first shift.

  • Background checkedPennsylvania and FBI checks, plus references we actually call.
  • Our employeesNot contractors. We carry the insurance and handle the taxes.
  • A main caregiver and a backupBoth meet your parent first, so there is never a stranger at the door.
  • A nurse checks inOur RN visits every 60 days and after any hospital stay.

I live in Philly and worried about Dad every day. Now Maria is there Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and Denise texts me after each visit. I sleep again.

Karen P. Dunmore

They started the day Mom came home from Regional. The backup caregiver had already met her, which made a big difference.

Joe M. Old Forge

Clear bill every week, no surprise charges. They also helped us file for the VA benefit.

Questions Families Ask

Still wondering? Call Denise. She has answered all of these at a kitchen table.

Does Medicare pay for home care?

Medicare usually pays for skilled home health, like a nurse or a physical therapist, when a doctor orders it and the person is homebound. It usually does not pay for help with bathing, meals, rides or company when that is all someone needs. Most families pay for that care themselves, or use long term care insurance, VA benefits or a Pennsylvania Medicaid waiver. We can walk you through which one fits.

Is there a minimum visit?

Visits are at least 4 hours. That gives the caregiver time to help without rushing. Many families start with 4 hours, three days a week, and add more later.

Will Mom get the same caregiver each time?

We match one main caregiver and one backup who both meet your mom before care starts. When the main caregiver is out, the backup comes, so there is always a face she knows.

How fast can care start?

Most families start within 2 to 4 days of the first home visit. If someone is coming home from the hospital, call us before discharge and we can often start the day they get home.

Are your caregivers checked?

Yes. Every caregiver passes a Pennsylvania and FBI background check, a reference check and our own training before their first shift. They are our employees, not contractors, and we carry the insurance.

We care for families in Scranton, Dunmore, Clarks Summit, Old Forge, Moosic, Taylor, Dickson City, Olyphant, Carbondale and Pittston.
