Four Ways to Fix Blurry Vision

LASIK is the one people know. It is not always the right one. Your corneal map shows which fits.

  • LASIK

A thin flap, a laser reshapes the cornea, the flap goes back. Most people see well the next morning.

    Best for
    Mild to high nearsight
    Back to work
    1 to 2 days
    Per eye
    $2,200 to $2,900
  • PRK

No flap. The laser works on the surface, and the skin of the eye grows back over a few days.

    Best for
    Thin corneas, contact sports
    Back to work
    4 to 7 days
    Per eye
    $2,000 to $2,700
  • SMILE

A tiny cut, no flap. The laser shapes a small lens inside the cornea and the surgeon slips it out.

    Best for
    Moderate nearsight, dry eye
    Back to work
    1 to 3 days
    Per eye
    $2,500 to $3,200
  • ICL

A soft lens placed inside the eye, in front of your own. Nothing is removed from the cornea.

    Best for
    Very strong glasses, thin corneas
    Back to work
    2 to 3 days
    Per eye
    $4,200 to $5,200

What Patients Say

4.9
★★★★★538 Google reviews

They told me I was not a good fit for LASIK because of thin corneas and did PRK instead. A slower first week, but I am glad they were honest.

Megan T. Tustin

The price on the website was the price at the exam. No upsell for a special laser. The 24 month plan made it easy.

Daniel K. Costa Mesa

I was minus 11 and thought I was out of luck. The ICL option was explained clearly, with every risk on paper.

Straight Answers

The questions people ask before they book, answered by our surgeons.

Does LASIK hurt?

Numbing drops keep the procedure itself from hurting. Most people feel pressure for a few seconds. Your eyes may feel scratchy and watery for the rest of the day, so plan to go home and nap.

How long does it take?

The laser part takes under a minute per eye. Plan on about two hours at our office for the check in, the procedure and a short rest after. You need a ride home.

Is the candidate check on this page a diagnosis?

No. It uses a few simple questions to give you a general idea. Only a full eye exam, with corneal maps and a dilated eye check, can tell you if a procedure is safe for your eyes. Results vary from person to person.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. LASIK, PRK, SMILE and ICL are eligible expenses for most HSA and FSA plans. Many people time their procedure for the start of a plan year.

Will I still need reading glasses?

Maybe, depending on your age. Around 45, most eyes lose close up focus no matter what. That is called presbyopia. We talk through options like monovision at your exam.

Patients come from Irvine, Tustin, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Santa Ana, Orange and Laguna Beach.
