What Patients Say
I asked about surfing at the exam and she gave me a real date, not a maybe. I was back out at Diamond Head a month later.
Kainoa M. Kailua
They told me PRK was the safer pick for my thin corneas and walked me through the slower recovery. Glad I listened.
Jasmine T. Mililani
Small office, same doctor every visit. The price they quoted was the price I paid.

Questions We Hear Every Week
How soon can I go back in the ocean?
Most people wait about two weeks after LASIK or SMILE before swimming, and about a month before surfing, because salt water, sand and a wave to the face can harm a healing eye. PRK can take longer. Your surgeon tells you when at your follow up visit.
Does it hurt?
Numbing drops mean most people feel pressure, not pain, during the laser part, which takes less than a minute per eye. After LASIK, eyes often feel scratchy for a few hours. PRK is sorer for the first three or four days.
Will I never need glasses again?
We cannot promise that. Results vary. Most people see well enough to drive without glasses, but some need a touch up, and almost everyone needs reading glasses in their 40s or 50s as the eye ages.
How do I know if I am a candidate?
Only an exam can tell. We measure the shape and thickness of your cornea, check for dry eye and look at how steady your prescription has been. The first exam is free and takes about 90 minutes.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes. LASIK, PRK and SMILE are eligible expenses for most HSA and FSA plans. We also offer monthly payment plans through an outside lender, subject to credit approval.

The first exam is free. Bring your glasses and your contacts case, and plan on about 90 minutes.
