Hodan found 14 months from residency that were never counted. She showed me how to ask for them myself.

    Dr. Priya N. Rochester

I thought I had to refinance. She walked me through why that would have ended my PSLF. Huge.

    Aaron M. Byron

Video call at 7 in the morning after a night shift. Fee after the plan, like she said.

    Good Questions

Can I do this myself for free?

Yes. StudentAid.gov lets you apply for repayment plans, track your PSLF count and certify your employer at no cost. Your loan servicer must help you for free too. We are for people with big balances or messy histories who want a second set of eyes and a written plan.

Are you part of the Department of Education?

No. We are a private planning office in Rochester and are not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education or any loan servicer. We never ask for your StudentAid.gov password. You log in yourself while we look at the screen together.

    How do you charge?

One flat fee, quoted before we start, and paid only after your written plan is done and in your hands. No upfront fees, no monthly fees, and no share of any amount forgiven. The first call is free.

    Does residency count toward PSLF?

Often, yes. Most residencies are at nonprofit hospitals, and payments made while you work there full time can count. The trick is being on a plan that qualifies, even when the payment is very small. Forbearance months usually do not count.

    Is forgiveness taxed?

PSLF forgiveness is not taxed by the IRS. Forgiveness at the end of an income driven plan may count as taxable income, based on the rules in place today. Ask a tax preparer before you plan around it, and we will show you both cases.
