Words you will hear from us
The maze of passages and valves that sends fluid to each clutch. When its bores wear, shifts go harsh or flare. It can be fixed without pulling the transmission.
A clutch inside the converter that locks the engine to the transmission at cruise. When it slips or grabs, you feel a shudder around 35 to 50 mph.
An electric valve the transmission computer uses to pick gears and set pressure. A bad one can mimic a worn out transmission for a few hundred dollars.
Most newer transmissions adjust each shift as parts wear. After fluid or parts, we reset those values and drive it so it learns clean shifts again.

Five Jobs We Do Every Week

Two shops quoted me a rebuild. Red Fork found a bad pressure solenoid and I drove out for $640.

      Travis H. Sand Springs

They took my Tahoe out with me in it and showed me the shudder on the scan tool. A fluid exchange fixed it.

      Monica R. Jenks

Rebuild on my F150 took four days. They texted photos of the burnt clutches before they ordered a thing.

Questions We Get at the Counter

Do I really need a rebuild?

Often, no. Most shift problems we see come from fluid, a solenoid, a sensor or the valve body. We scan and road test first, and we only quote a rebuild when the clutches or hard parts are worn out.

Is the road test really free?

Yes. A code scan and a road test with you in the car cost nothing. If we need to drop the pan or take the transmission apart to find the fault, we tell you that price first.

      What does code P0700 mean?

It means the transmission computer has stored a code of its own. P0700 does not name a part by itself. We plug into the transmission computer and read the real code.

Should I change the fluid on a high mileage transmission?

Usually yes, if the fluid is not burnt. Old fluid loses the friction it needs to shift clean. If it is already dark and smells burnt, we check for slipping first and tell you what fresh fluid can and cannot fix.

How long does a rebuild take?

Most take 3 to 5 working days. Parts for some 8 and 10 speed units can add a day or two. You get a text when it is torn down and another when it is back together.

      Do you work on CVTs?

Yes. We service them and fix sensors and valve bodies. When a CVT has failed inside, a remanufactured unit is usually the better deal, and we tell you that up front.

Bring It In Before It Gets Worse

Slipping and burnt fluid get more expensive every mile. The road test is free.
