A Front Door Built for a Two Foot Wall
We build and hang entry doors, French doors and patio doors for adobe homes around Santa Fe. Design yours below and see the price.
Design Your Door
Pick the kind of door, the material, glass on the sides or above, and the color. The drawing, price and wait time change as you go.
Old Walls Are Never Square
An adobe opening can be an inch out of plumb from top to bottom. Box store doors fight that. We build the frame to the wall.
- Jambs made to your wall depth, up to 24 inches.
- A sloped sill pan under every door, so monsoon rain runs out, not in.
- Mud plaster or lime returns patched by hand to match.
- Old doors saved and stored if you want to keep them.
What Folks Around Here Say
Our old front door let in dust every spring wind. The new one fits that crooked opening perfectly and they matched the plaster so well you cannot see the patch.
Lorenzo G. Santa Fe
Turquoise French doors onto the portal. They handled the historic review paperwork, which I was dreading.
Margaret H. Tesuque
Bifold wall facing the mountains. Three days of work, clean every night, and the price did not move from the quote.
Chris and Ana W. Eldorado
Sample reviews written for this demo. Your site shows your real Google reviews, word for word.
Where We Hang Doors

Questions About Doors in Adobe
Can you fit a standard door into a thick adobe wall?
Yes. Most walls here run 10 to 24 inches deep. We order the door with extended jambs or build a wood buck in the opening, then plaster or trim the return so it looks like it grew there.
Will a wood door hold up to the Santa Fe sun?
It will if it sits under a portal or gets a fresh coat of finish every two to three years. For a door that faces south or west with no overhang, we usually suggest fiberglass with a wood grain skin.
Can you match hand forged iron hardware?
We work with two local smiths for straps, clavos and pulls. Custom pieces add two to three weeks. We can also reuse your old hardware if it is sound.
Do I need a permit in the historic districts?
Often, yes. If your house is in a historic district, a door that changes the look from the street goes to the city for review first. We pull the drawings and photos together and file it with you.
How long does install take?
A single entry door is one day. French doors and sliders are one to two. A bifold wall that needs a new header can take three to four days.
Ready to Swap That Old Door?
