Questions

What People Ask Before They Call

Straight answers on price, area and what I fix.

How much is the diagnostic?

The diagnostic is $125. I come to you, find what is wrong, and tell you what it needs before any work starts.

Does the diagnostic fee go toward the repair?

Yes. If you have me do the repair, half the diagnostic fee goes toward it. That is $62.50 off your bill.

Do you really come to my house?

Yes. I work on your car at your home, your job, or wherever it is sitting. No tow and no waiting room.

What areas do you cover?

North Seattle to Marysville and all the areas in between. That includes Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Bothell, Mill Creek, Mukilteo, Everett and Lake Stevens.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. A&B Mobile Auto Repair LLC is a licensed and insured Washington business, UBI 606 124 537.

Do you fix transmissions?

No. I do not do transmission repairs or rebuilds. I would rather tell you up front than waste your time.

What cars do you work on?

Most makes and models. Tell me the year, make and model when you call or text and I will let you know.

Why is a mobile mechanic cheaper than a shop?

I keep my overhead low. No big building and no front office. That lets me beat typical shop pricing, and you skip the tow bill.

Can't I just get the code read for free?

You can, and it's a fine first step. The free scan gives you a code. My diagnostic finds the part behind the code so you only pay to fix what is actually broken.

Do you replace rotors every time?

No. If the rotors are thick enough and smooth, they can stay. I'll tell you what I find and you decide.

Can you replace a starter in a parking lot?

In most cases, yes. As long as the car can be safely raised, I can do it where it sits.

Do you just jump cars?

I focus on finding why it died so it doesn't happen again. Call and tell me what it's doing and we'll go from there.

Will I need an alignment?

It depends on the part. Struts and control arms often call for one. I'll let you know before the job.

Can I just add coolant?

To get home, yes. But coolant doesn't disappear on its own. Something is leaking and it should be found.

How often do I need spark plugs?

Your owner's manual has the number for your engine. Tell me your mileage and I'll tell you if you're due.

Can you check a quote I got from a shop?

Yes. The diagnostic gives you a second opinion on what the car really needs.
