Step by Step
Set Up Your Listing
- Go to openstreetmap.org and select Sign Up.
- Enter your email, a display name and a password, then pass the human check.
- Agree to the terms and finish creating the account.
- Zoom the map to your business location.
- Select Edit to open the in browser editor called iD.
- Select the question mark button on the right side of the editor to open the built in help.
Sites move their buttons around. If a screen looks different, look for words like add, claim or list your business.
Good to Know
Tips for This Site
- Use the name that is on your sign, not a slogan.
- Do not copy from Google Maps or other commercial maps. OpenStreetMap rules forbid it.
- Add each place once. Do not make duplicate points to get an icon to show.
- This is not an advertising site. Short term or closed businesses do not belong on the map.
