The Setup
ABC Lock and Safe has been working in Portland since 1985. Forty-plus years of locksmithing, safe-cracking, real estate work, banking work, and the kind of 24/7 emergency calls that don't care that it's 3am on a holiday. The shop sits in Northeast Portland, just south of PDX.
The challenge wasn't reputation — they had it. The challenge was that the old web presence didn't communicate four decades of expertise. The competition online was the usual mix: out-of-state lead aggregators, drill-first operators, and chain franchises with corporate playbooks. None of them have been in Portland since 1985. The website needed to make that obvious.
The brief: build something fast, beautiful, and trustworthy — a site that reads the way Portland locals talk, signals legitimate licensing immediately, and ranks across the whole metro plus Vancouver, WA.
The Two Sites You Should Actually Look At
The Strategy
The competition in Portland locksmith search is mostly bad. Aggregators don't have offices in Portland. Chains drill first and ask questions later. Background-checked, properly trained, licensed-since-Reagan locksmiths are rare — and we built the site to make that rarity obvious.
Static-first build for speed. Real positioning language — "we pick before we drill" isn't a marketing line, it's a working policy. Real coverage architecture: nine location pages covering Portland proper plus Beaverton, Hillsboro, Gresham, Tigard, Lake Oswego, Vancouver (WA), Oregon City, and Milwaukie. Real vertical pages for each of the four trades — residential, commercial, automotive, and the safe work that most locksmith competitors quietly subcontract out.
"Anyone can drill a lock. Picking one without damage is the part that takes 40 years to learn — and the part that justifies a real call instead of a parts replacement."
The Safe-Cracking Vertical
This is where the moat is. Most locksmith shops in any market can do home and car lockouts. The shops that can actually crack a safe — retrieve a combination, open a fire-rated unit, repair a damaged dial, move a 600-pound unit across an office — are rare. ABC has been doing it since 1985. We built that into its own vertical page, with the specific work types, the size limits, and the after-hours availability that the people actually searching for "safe cracking Portland" need to see before they call.
The Trust Stack
Licensed. Bonded. Insured. Locksmith Listing certified — Elite Pro tier, Safety Screened tier. Background-checked technicians. Trained in safe handling, lock-picking, and modern keyless entry before they touch a client's hardware. Every one of those signals is on the site, where Portland customers can see them and Google can rank them.
