Garage Door Sale Searches Peak in October. Time Your Offers
The Short Version

Garage doors go on sale most in the fall, when maker rebates and Black Friday land, and again in spring. Searches for a sale peak in October. Answer that question on your own site, run real offers on that calendar and keep every former price true.

What Changed

When Garage Doors Go on Sale

Two homeowners need a new garage door. One calls the first company on the map and pays the going rate. The other asks a search box when garage doors go on sale, waits for the answer and books the company that showed a real offer. The second homeowner is the one this article is about.

The deal hunter is not a cheap customer. They are a planner. Their old door still works, more or less. They have time to compare, and they will spend real money once the timing feels right.

So give them the answer they asked for. Garage doors go on sale most often in the fall and early winter, when makers run rebates and Black Friday lands. Spring brings a second round of offers. Winter is the slow season for installs, so that is when a local company has the most room to deal.

Put that answer on your own site, in plain words, near the top of a page you keep up all year. Then back it with a real offer on the right month. The rest of this article shows which months, what each one costs to advertise and how to keep the sale legal.

When Shoppers Search for a Sale

The question has a season, and the search data shows it.

Clickflame pulled US Google Ads keyword data for the 12 months from October 2025 to September 2026. Searches for garage door sale hit 12,100 in October 2025, the high for the year. They ran 9,900 in November and again in March, April and May. Every other month sat at 8,100.

Black Friday is a short, sharp spike. Searches for garage door Black Friday reached 480 in November 2025 and sat near 10 in most other months. A searcher who types that phrase wants a deal this week, not a brochure.

The click is cheaper too. In the same data, Google suggested a cost per click of $6.77 for garage door sale and $21.71 for garage door replacement. The deal hunter costs about a third as much to reach, and they want the same new door.

Read the last row with care. Cost searches peak in summer, but sale searches do not. A summer shopper wants a clear price. A fall shopper wants a deal. Two different pages win those two people.

Why Winter Is the Slow Season

You do not have to guess why the deals cluster where they do. The biggest door maker tells its investors.

Griffon owns Clopay. In its 10-K for the year ended September 30, 2025, Griffon says the door business is driven by renovation and construction during warm weather, and that work is lower in the winter months. For Griffon, that is the quarter from January to March.

The same filing says the door segment's revenue held flat in 2025, with price and mix up 2% and volume down 2%, mostly from homes. Read that plainly. List prices are not falling. Fewer doors are selling at those prices. So a homeowner does not save by waiting for prices to drop. They save by catching an offer.

That gives you a gap to fill. Your crews and your trucks cost the same in January as in May. A winter offer that books installs in a slow month is cheaper than idle hours, and the homeowner gets a real deal for it.

Winter is when installs slow down. A booking offer keeps the crew busy.

Ride the Maker's Promo, Then Bill the Ads Back

Most fall deals do not start with the installer. They start with the maker.

A Co-op Connect notice to dealers described Clopay's fall rebate event as up to $1,000 on qualifying doors, ending October 31, 2025. The same page says Clopay's co-op program can pay back 50% to 100% of qualifying ad costs for local dealers, and that every co-op ad needs prior approval.

That is free money most small dealers leave on the table. If you sell a brand, ask your rep three things before each season.

  1. What promo is coming, and on what dates? Put the dates on your calendar the day you hear them.
  2. What co-op money can I claim? Get the rules in writing, including the approval steps.
  3. What proof do you need? Save every ad, invoice and screenshot the day the ad runs.

Then put the maker's offer on your own page, with your own photos and your own install price. A rebate the homeowner has to dig for on the maker's site does nothing for you. A rebate on your page, next to your phone number, gets the call.

A fake sale is the fastest way to lose a careful buyer. It can also break the law.

The FTC's Guides Against Deceptive Pricing say a former price is fair to quote only if it was the actual, bona fide price you offered on a regular basis for a reasonably long time. Raising a price for a few days so you can cut it back is the guide's own example of a false bargain. If an ad just says Sale with no number, the cut still has to be big enough to matter.

Some states go further. A 2019 Manatt review of People v. J.C. Penney covers California's rule that a former price must have been the going market price within about three months, unless the ad states when it was. Check your own state before you print a was and now price.

A careful buyer checks. When your numbers hold up, that check works for you.

Put the Offer Where Searchers See It

A good offer on a flyer in your truck reaches nobody who is searching. Put it in three places.

One page that never moves. Build a garage door offers page on your site and keep it up all year. Change the offer each season, not the URL. The page earns links and trust over time, and it is ready the day searches climb in October. Open it with the answer to the question homeowners ask, then show the current offer, the regular price and the end date.

Promotion assets in Google Ads. Google lets you add a promotion to a search ad for free and pay only for clicks. Its help page lists a Black Friday occasion that runs from October 15 to December 15, plus Fall Sale, Winter Sale and Spring Sale with no fixed dates. You can show a percent off or a dollar amount, add a promo code and set start and end dates. The HVAC Google Ads guide walks through the same setup for a trade with its own season.

Offer posts on your Business Profile. Google's posts page says an offer post needs a title, dates and a time, and adds a View Offer button on its own. You can add a coupon code, a link and terms. Posts older than 6 months are archived unless you set a date range, so give every offer post real dates. Not claimed yet? Start with the guide to claiming your profile.

A 12 Month Promo Calendar

Use the search data and the maker's season to plan the year. Swap in your own dates once your rep gives them.

MonthsWhat searchers doWhat to run
SeptemberSale searches still lowAsk your rep about fall promos and co-op. Update the offers page.
OctoberSale searches peakLaunch the fall offer. Turn on promotion assets and an offer post.
NovemberBlack Friday spikeTag the Black Friday occasion. Set a firm end date.
December to FebruarySale searches dipWinter booking offer to fill install days. Push openers and insulated doors.
March to MaySale searches climb backSpring offer. Ask every winter customer for a review.
June to AugustCost searches peakLead with clear installed prices. Save the sale for fall.

One offer at a time works best. Stacked coupons confuse the buyer and make the regular price look made up. Pick one clear deal per season and say when it ends.

Then answer the phone like you mean it. A deal hunter calls two or three companies in one sitting. If yours goes to voicemail, they book the next one. The free missed call calculator shows what those lost calls cost in a month.

Track Offers Against Booked Jobs

Give each offer its own code and, if you can, its own tracking number. Log every call and form with the code it came from and whether it booked. At the end of each season, compare booked jobs and average ticket against the same months last year.

Watch the average ticket, not just the count. A good offer brings in planners who add an opener, a keypad or an insulated door. A bad one brings in people who only want the cheapest spring swap. If an offer fills the calendar with small jobs, change it next season.

The trade guide on proving a garage door company is real covers the trust side, since a deal only works when the homeowner believes the company behind it.

How Clickflame Builds a Garage Door Offers Page

When a garage door company comes to Clickflame, the offers page goes up early. It opens with the plain answer to when doors go on sale, shows the current offer with its regular price and end date, and carries the company's own photos and phone number. Promotion assets and Business Profile offer posts point at that one page, and each offer gets its own code so the owner can see what booked.

Help Desk Answers

What time of year do garage doors go on sale?

Most often in the fall and early winter. Makers run rebates in the fall, like Clopay's 2025 rebate that ended October 31, and Black Friday deals follow in November. Spring brings a second round. Winter is the slow season for installs, so some local companies offer a deal to fill the schedule.

When's the best time to buy a garage door?

Fall if you want a rebate, winter if you want a fast install date. Ask the company what offer is running now and what the regular price is. A true sale shows both. If you can wait, ask if a rebate or spring offer is coming.

Do garage doors ever go on sale at Home Depot?

Store offers change through the year, so check what is running the week you buy. The door is only part of the bill. Compare the full installed price, the warranty and who does the install against a local dealer's quote before you decide.

Can a garage door company say a price was marked down if it never charged the old price?

No. The FTC's pricing guide says a former price must be the real price the item was offered at, on a regular basis, for a fair amount of time. California also limits former price claims to about the last three months unless the ad gives the date.

Should a garage door company run a Black Friday sale?

Yes, if the offer is real and the schedule can take the work. Searches for garage door Black Friday deals spike in November, and Google Ads lets you tag a Black Friday promotion from October 15 to December 15. Keep the offer page up all year and change the offer, not the URL.
